As of now online gambling is only legal in three states in the U.S. Those states are Nevada, Delaware, and New Jersey. Many experts strongly believe that it will become legal in all states by the end of the decade. The only form of online gambling that is legal in those states is poker.
However, soon in the future, all forms of online gambling will probably be legal. Overall the majority will probably be accepting of it. In a way, this has already been happening somewhat. Land-based casinos are very popular in the United States. It should not be a shock if the online casino industry prospers as well in the near future.
Back before the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 was formed in the United States, UK based company Zynga was trying to get their online games in the U.S. After the act was formed, they gave up on it.
In the United States, many people like to shop online and use social media a lot. It would not be hard to make people gamble online through using real money. Since the country has been relying more and more on the online world, this also plays a role in why there is a good chance that online gambling will become legal in all of the states.
There are some concerns about legalizing online gambling in all of the states. One concern is an increase in problem gambling. Even though the country does not have a high rate in addiction to gambling, officials still do not want it to rise. Another concern is spending too much time on the internet. Spending too much time on the internet can lead to health problems. In the United States throughout these recent years have had obesity on the rise. Also chronic diseases for young people have also been on the rise.
All states in the USA except for Hawaii and Utah each allow some form of gambling. Las Vegas is the leader of the gambling community in the U.S. Even though Las Vegas is the capital of it, a lot of the other states have at least one casino. There are a lot of Americans who have some sort of interest in gambling. Many Americans love to play the slot machines. The younger people like the betting aspect of it. The fact the younger generation leans more towards making bets is also why online gambling might become legal in more states.
Online gambling has definitely been making a splash in places that does have it legalized. A lot of people love the fact that they do not have to get up off of their couch in order to gamble. They can do some form of gambling while they are in their pajamas. If online gambling were to expand more in the United States, many Americans would like this aspect as well. Especially since some of the daily activities involve the online world.
The United States would be a big market for online casinos. Obviously, online casinos want to make as much money as possible. In New Jersey, the online gambling revenue reached $9.5 million just in one month. Nevada’s revenue for online gambling has been even larger, which would make sense Las Vegas is located in that state.
There are reports of a Nevada-Delaware compact being in the works. If this were to happen, other states are going to want to follow through. The online revenue for casinos worldwide have exceeded $32 billion. There have been estimates made saying that by 2017, it would top $100 billion. If more states decided to soften up on their gambling laws, online casinos would definitely pay attention to this. They are not going to want to sit on the sidelines. The infrastructure for it would be developed as soon as possible. Then they would be ready to go for future generations. There would probably be partnerships made with gambling companies that are state based.
Many wonder if online gambling were to spread in other states would there be a decrease in people going to land-based casinos. Even though there is a good chance that the online casino industry will boom in the next decade in the United States, it is not a guarantee. Who knows, it might be until another 30 years until more states legalize online gambling. For many the change might come slower than predicted. With the gambling industry continuing to grow globally and assuming that it will still be successful 30 years from now, maybe the online casinos would become bigger than the land-based ones. There has already been an increase of people shopping online, so maybe the same will happen for online gambling.
